One of the greatest joys in life is watching Daryl Hall's unique web-only show, where each month for the past few years, he and his friends play their favorite songs live, along the way inviting peers, legends and up-and-coming artists for the ride. The results are awe-inspiring. I must confess I haven't been following the series for a year, and only resumed recently; thanks to a YouTube search that yielded the performance of a recent episode of Todd Rundgren and Daryl Hall performing a stunning I Saw The Light. From then on non-stop, it was just clip after clip, episode after episode. There are countless brilliant moments -- The Doors' Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger jamming with the band, Daryl's soulful rendition of You're A Big Girl Now, an emotional but rousing The Weight, in memory of the late T-Bone Wolk, longtime Hall & Oates collaborator (Episode 30), the entire first Christmas episode (featuring John Oates), many many more. And if you want some true blue soul, check out the episode with Smokey Robinson, especially the performances of Sara Smile and Ooo Baby Baby. Musical heaven. Bout time Hall & Oates get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
